Jerusalem Camp, 2008 - 5768

Shalom everyone! 2008 Jerusalem Camp was Nifla! Incroyable! Oofta! Shaloha Oy!

Here are new photos from the 2008 Camp that Zev just posted. Here are Sandy Leeder's videos of our davening at Jerusalem Camp. And, here are photos by the incomparable Levi Welton.

Creating Jerusalem Camp at the Rainbow Gathering is an immense effort on the part of Zev Padway and the others who exert themselves to buy the food and haul it and the gear for miles over rocky, hilly footpaths at 9,200 feet, construct an infrastructure with local deadwood, and have a delicious Shabbat feast ready for a crowd of 200 people. And that was just the first of two Shabbats in a row at Rainbow. Such effort needs any support you can offer. Here are instructions on how to donate.

Jerusalem Camp at the National Gathering of the Rainbow Family

Since 1972 thousands of people gather each year, in the National Forests of America, to create an intentional community, called a Gathering, and to pray together for world peace on the 4th of July. For over a month, hundreds of small camps are built in the woods, that surround the main meadow, where the day of prayer and celebration occurs. These camps, centered around kitchens, cater for each others needs in a money-less economy. Many different cultures and groups are represented, as well as thousands of young searching souls.

As one would expect, a large percentage of these people are Jewish. Each year Jerusalem Camp builds what has become the well known, Jerusalem Camp Kitchen. We provide Kosher, Organic, vegetarian meals, in a Jewish communal setting. Opportunities abound for Torah Classes, Hebrew chanting, prayer groups, personal sharing, celebrations of lifecycle events, friendship, positive experiences and, of course, Shabbat under the stars.  Rich, deep, life connections are made between people, many earnestly seeking to add deeper meaning to their lives. Jewish books and literature are available. We also provide free plane tickets to Israel for those who are wanting to go and study further. Each year, B"H, many take us up on that very special offer.

Our Success
Thank G-d we are unbelievably successful. Each year we inspire many to enrich their lives by connecting in a deep and meaningful way to their Jewish roots. There is no question that the lives of hundreds of people are strengthened as they embrace their Judaism in new ways and join with those of all faiths to work together for the common good. Please read some of these testimonials, or watch this wonderful video on youtube. More descriptions of Jerusalem Camp at Rainbow are on our about page.
